Language Matters
The Lakota language is endangered. Teaching our children to speak our language helps preserve our ways of thinking and our history. Every Lakota child, regardless of their ability to speak with their voice, deserves to speak Lakota.

Three Main Goals
Develop a Lakota AAC vocabulary
Words matter, and we want everyone to be able to join in, so we’re developing a vocabulary layout in Lakota
Provide Access
Families and schools are struggling to have enough funds. We are working towards providing a device and a license to our vocabulary and the app it runs on.
Voice Development
To pronounce Lakota correctly, we need a proper Lakota voice. We’re researching options on that at this time.
About us
Started by a Lakota mom on a mission to teach her child Lakota, even though he is primarily an AAC user in English, Lakȟótiyapi AAC seeks to share this work with others and improve on it.
There’s no reason our children can’t do this, just like every other child out there.
